We look at the world as an integrated and coherent whole and we view the markets from a global perspective. We have a great interest in the emerging markets where we see great scope for growth and development in the years to come.
We spend time and resources investigating these new and emerging markets to capture opportunities available. Our investment team combines visits to these regions with external fund research to ensure that they have the most up-to-date information before they chose to allocate a percentage of assets to these markets.
Depending on our view of the world and to control risk, we actively manage the currency exposure of our clients’ portfolio that results from buying international securities.
Our exposure to equity markets will generally be through Exchange Traded Funds which give access to the asset class and market at extremely low cost. Our view is that markets are on the whole efficient (Fama, 1970) and that index funds should outperform active managers in aggregate. Having said this there are periods when financial markets can be over-optimistic and over-pessimistic.
