As well as managing portfolios for charities, Thurleigh is also committed to supporting charitable causes and each year donates a percentage of its revenues to charity. Thurleigh has supported the following charities:
House of Illustration: The House of Illustration is the world’s first dedicated home for the world's most accesible art form. From advertising to animation, picture books to political cartoons, and medical drawing to fashion design, they champion illustration, explore its riches and celebrate the way it touches our lives.
Afghanaid: has been working in Afghanistan for nearly 30 years. Its 400 staff work with more than 900,000 direct beneficiaries in some of the most remote and desolate areas of the country, providing the vital support communities need to grow and prosper. Afghanaid helps young girls to return to school whilst encouraging communities to prevent child marriage. It trains women in vocational skills and links them to the market. It gives farmers the tools and knowledge to diversify and store their crops, increasing food security for rural families. In partnership with the Afghan government, it has brought elected councils to over two thousand villages and helps local people to meet their development needs.
Fight for Sight: The UK’s leading charity funding research into the prevention and treatment of blindness and eye disease
Bob Champion Cancer Trust: After Bob Champion and Aldaniti won the 1981 Grand National, the interest and enthusiasm generated by "racing’s greatest fairytale" led to the foundation in 1983 of The Bob Champion Cancer Trust. Their aims are to improve methods of detection and treatment, to identify cancer genes, and ultimately to eradicate male cancers.
Royal Marsden Cancer Campaign: The Royal Marsden Cancer Campaign supports the work of The Royal Marsden, raising money to help the hospital stay at the leading edge of cancer treatment, research and care.
Afghan Fashion Show 2010: A fashion event with the theme of the evening "Made in Afghanistan". All proceeds from the evening were shared equally between two charities directly involved with Afghanistan – Afghanaid which has worked tirelessly in Afghanistan for 30 years and the ABF (the Soldiers’ Charity) which gives life-time support to serving and retired soldiers and their families and is facing ever increasing requests for assistance.
